Truly Knowing Your Characters
We were both talking about this the other day - but is there anything better in screenwriting than TRULY getting to know your characters?
Like… how cool is it that we get to “create” these individuals and at first, they’re a prototype or description - but with time, they become so well defined that we feel like we know them.
We have both even thought about our characters in our real lives and how they would react in certain situations. You feel like you know them so well you can peg how they’d act.
And has anyone else reading this ever felt almost DEPRESSED when a story is over and you no longer get to “spend time” with your characters every day? Like… these people become almost like our friends!!!
It’s a weird phenomenon that sounds odd to say out loud, but anyone who has ever had their feet up while typing away on Final Draft can probably relate.
